Sheila Flynn

Licensed Professional Counselor

I joined Sand Dollar Wellness Center in the fall of 2018. I have worked in a variety of settings with children and adults as a Licensed Professional Counselor since 2001 and worked in a variety of settings. My training and experience have encompassed work with children and adults of all ages, and I have continued to enjoy the challenges and rewards of both. My approach draws from multiple sources and includes principles of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy with an emphasis on the understanding of self and interpersonal focus. I believe offering a safe, non-judgmental environment with genuine compassion is also key to helping my client’s transition from distress to personal growth. I have worked with a variety of diagnoses including Depression, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), substance abuse, children’s issues, grief, chronic pain, and assisting those transitioning from one season of life to another. I earned a B.S. in Business Administration with a major in Management and Organizational Development from Mount Olive College and a Master of Arts in Counseling from Webster University. I am from Wilmington and appreciate all that Wilmington has to offer.
